Welcome to the website of the New Zealand Institute of Judicial Studies. The Institute was established in July 1998. It is the professional development arm of the New Zealand judiciary and provides education programmes and resources which:
Central to the context within which judges work is their independence from the other arms of the state. The initiative of the judiciary to develop education through the Institute of Judicial Studies recognises that education fosters responsible decision making without compromising judicial independence.
